About this deal

Looking for pore-fect skin? Cleanse your skin of debris and discover visibly minimised pores and a brighter looking complexion with Rare Earth Deep Pore Cleansing Masque. Kaolin and bentonite clays absorb excess oil and reduce impurities,” explains Dr. Graf, which is why we love this mask from Origins that contains both. To simultaneously exfoliate, smooth, and decongest, you won’t regret giving this one a try. This pretty pink mask is formulated with clay (obviously), exfoliating jojoba beads, and soothing willowherb. The gritty little beads gently exfoliate the surface of the skin, while the willowherb and two types of clay work to restore and clarify. Our tester, who regularly uses a mask in her skincare routine, was surprised by how refreshing this mask felt, calling it a “deep cleanse.” After use, her skin felt clean and smooth. It’s also worth noting that the mask comes in a hygienic squeeze tube that deposits the mask into your hands, preventing contamination from grubby fingers. Makes enough for 1 mask. Once the ingredients are mixed together, you must apply it right away. Ingredients: Oily skin types will enjoy using this as an allover mask, while combo, normal, and dry skin types can use this as a spot treatment on their t-zones.

It's worth noting that, if used on the wrong skin type (for example, dry or irritated skin) then a clay mask can be drying and exacerbate problems—so finding the right formula is key. "Look for masks that contain sulphur, which not only deep cleans but also has anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties," says Kerr. If you're skin is oily in some areas but dry in others, just use your clay mask where it's needed (typically the t-zone). What are the best clay masks for large pores? I’ve been using this deep pore cleansing mask faithfully once a week for the past couple of years. Don’t tell him I told you, but my husband also loves using this mask. I usually mix up enough for both of us so we look ridiculous together. But we both are at skin heaven (you know, that wonderful place that’s not too dry, not too oily and no breakouts) because of it! 🙂 If you give this mask a try, keep me posted on your results – I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised! Hahahahaha! Try not to laugh too hard at yourself 🙂 And, finally, bentonite clay (like in innisfree Pore Clearing Clay Mask) is known for its detoxification properties. “Bentonite clay is an extremely efficient detoxing and rejuvenating clay that’s suitable for many skin types, but especially oily and acne-prone,” Dr. Graf says. “It exfoliates and draws out excess oils, impurities, and more, while also restoring mineral levels and removing toxins.” Inspired by the “cold plunge” part of a Scandinavian sauna cycle, the cooling mask deeply purifies the skin and shrinks the look of pores with the help of a powerful blend of antioxidants, active botanicals, alpha and beta hydroxy acids, and bentonite clay. As the name suggests, it’s refreshingly cool upon application (thanks to eucalyptus, kelp, and Irish moss extracts) and, according to our tester, even smells like a spa. She described the cooling sensation to be “minty” and “tingly,” but her sensitive skin never felt irritated or uncomfortable. The longer she kept the mask on, the tighter and drier it felt, but she was able to talk, laugh and move her face. When she washed it off, she shared that her enlarged pores were less noticeable, and the tone of her skin appeared more even. For at least an hour after washing the mask off, she still felt refreshed, tingly, and cool. Physical factors like makeup and pollution aren’t the only factors—breakout-prone skin can be hereditary, too. “The size of your pores depends primarily on your genes,” explains Dr. Jaliman. “If you have larger pores, the dead skin inside them is more likely to make you break out,” she adds. How to Keep Pores CleanBut which face masks actually deliver real results and are worth your hard-earned money? To find out, we tested a wide range of formulas in our Manhattan-based lab. Here we evaluated each face mask, scoring each one out of five based on how they exfoliated the skin, reduced oil, and helped shrink the appearance of pores—all without irritating or drying out skin. We also took into consideration a variety of skin concerns and types, as well as ease of application. But despite this clay mask being ~trendy~, it's definitely not new. Various forms of clay have been used in ancient skincare routines for thousands of years, from Cleopatra's reign 2,000 years ago, to Ayurvedic practices in India more than 4,000 years ago. Obvs, today's version doesn't have nearly as much history (it was created in 1984), but according to the manufacturers of Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay, their calcium bentonite does have a unique source: the Death Valley desert in California, where it's supposedly "sun-dried for up to six months in extreme temperatures of 134 degrees." Pink clay (like the clay in Origins Original Skin Retexturizing Mask with Rose Clay) is ideal for improving skin elasticity and cell renewal. “This is also ideal for mature skin that has begun to lose its elasticity,” Dr. Graf shares. “Pink clay is a gentle exfoliator that’s light on the skin.” Because the mask is so rich, it can be annoying to get off. Our tester noted that although she got it all off eventually, she said she wishes she could have just jumped in the shower to get it off faster. Nevertheless, her skin appeared “glowy and fresh” after one use, and the tiny clogged pores on her cheeks looked smaller. In addition to discovering the best ingredients for clogged pores, it’s important to be mindful of the ingredients that can make congestion worse. Dr. Jaliman says to avoid ingredients such as “mineral oil and petroleum” as “these ingredients [are known to] clog pores.” The Best Face Masks for Clogged Pores

When deciding between clay mask formulas, Dr. Graf recommends paying attention to the type of clay. “There are four different types of clay that are used in face masks for skin health,” she explains. “Although the types of clay used in skin products are meant to draw out impurities and gently cleanse the skin, some are better than others for your skin type.” Pores. Everyone has them, but many still struggle with their appearance. The thing is, some wish to shrink their pores by making them smaller in size — but that's actually not even possible. Instead, the solution for invisible or "smaller" pores is keeping them clean and free of dirt, oil, and debris that builds up over time. That's where pore cleansers come into play. The raw apple cider vinegar in the mask restores your skin’s natural pH, which is amazing for all skin types. If your skin’s pH is out of balance, then you will most likely break out, or your pores will get clogged or your skin might get itchy and dry. But when your skin’s pH is in balance, your skin will be at the perfect place of not too dry and not too oily. That is s kin heaven and the apple cider vinegar in this deep pore cleansingmask helps us get there 🙂 According to our tester, it feels like a “luxurious cream” that slowly dries down and feels slightly tingly. This didn’t really bother the tester; in fact, she said it was her favorite part about the mask. When she washed it off, she was in complete awe at the state of her skin, going as far as saying that the texture looked as smooth as “a baby’s bottom.” Plus, the pores on her nose—one of her biggest problem areas—looked like they shrunk in a matter of minutes, prompting her to call this mask a “masterpiece.”

This night mask is suitable for all skin types apart from very sensitive ones. It’s also ideal for improving visible pores and uneven skin texture. Whatever you do, experts do not recommend extracting pores yourself, using only your hands — that could lead to scarring. Instead, if you’re desperate for an at-home extraction, try using a high-tech pore cleanser (such as the Dermaflash Dermapore ultrasonic device). Make sure your face is completely clean and free of makeup before using. Follow the device’s instructions for best results, and limit your use to two or three times weekly. Price Unlike other skincare products that take weeks or even months to see results, I pretty much knew whether I’d love or hate this mask after one use. Obviously I loved it, but it does have its flaws too. I have been using the Dermapore for a few years now,” explains Tamim Alnuweiri, beauty commerce writer. “The angle of the spatula is just perfect for clearing out pores. Although I do think it’s great turned on with the vibration (to really dislodge debris), I even like to use it while it’s off. It just cleans out my pores without irritation or leaving behind any marks or wounds which is what happens when I use my hands.”

One of the gentlest clay mask I’ve tried that still cleans well. It’s not as powerful as the Kiehl’s but it does leave my skin with a lovely glow afterwards. Another great option to use all over! Makeup and pollution can irritate the pores of the face,” says Dr. Jaliman. “Make sure the makeup you use is non-comedogenic [specially formulated to not clog pores],” she adds. She further explains, “to avoid clogging your pores with makeup, try to use products that are oil-free,” and always remember to remove all of your makeup and cleanse thoroughly before going to bed.But really if you can get past these two issues, the Kiehl’s Rare Earth Deep Pore Cleansing mask is amazing for clarifying the skin and minimizing the appearance of pores. It always makes my skin feel so refreshed afterwards!

A pore cleanser is a product that helps remove excess oil, dirt, and dead cells from the pores to keep them clear and help minimize their appearance," says Joshua Zeichner, M.D., a dermatologist in New York City. These products typically use exfoliating ingredients that slough away dead skin and dirt, to help reduce the appearance of pores. While most of these treatments are actually facial cleansers, there are other deep-cleaning options, including face masks, toners, and even devices (more on that later).Up ahead, we take a closer look at what causes congestion to occur, ingredients that help promote clear skin and the best face masks for clogged pores. What Are Clogged Pores White clay (like the clay in Mario Badescu’s Super Collagen Mask) works well with all skin types—especially mature skin. “White clay draws out excess oils and dirt,” she says. “It’s a gentle exfoliant that refines the surface of the skin and works to reduce pore size.” To note: Kaolin clay is a type of white clay. Finally, we spoke to Dr. Hadley King, a board-certified dermatologist in New York City. She’s also a Clinical Instructor of Dermatology at the Weill Medical College of Cornell University and specializes in both medical and cosmetic dermatology. Heyo, it’s Milan and her normal-combination skin lookin’ fresh after the mask! SKIN TYPE: Combo/"normal"
