Both of these CDs were named Record of the Year by the Manhattan Association of Cabarets and New YorkBistro awards, and her work as a live performer has twice earned her awards for Female Vocalist of the Year. For a memoir that is meant to show the freedom she gained by being alone, I don’t understand why it was essentially just a list of every single interaction she’s ever had with a man, most of which are romanticised. And her ex-husband was straight up abusive at points but those behaviors are sort of described as just personality quirks.

It became the Pretenders first single 15 years later, leading to a relationship between Ray Davies and Chrissie Hynde. So it feels so familiar and cozy eg I started reading the sample and got furious trying to work out how to read the full book. A teenage columnist for The Sunday Times, she became a music journalist and published her first novel, Namedropper, aged 22.
