Description

We will break down each of Gtech’s vacuum cleaners so that you can understand what each one is capable of and also the difference between them so that you can make a judgement on which one may be most appropriate for your needs and whether it is worth paying extra for the more expensive model or not. With some of the top end Dyson vacuums you can get a soft roller as an added extra but you have to switch it over yourself but with Shark they are both built-in already so it just does it automatically for you. If you want a vacuum cleaner that offers the ability to clean above-floor surfaces such as stairs and sofas then you may have to look to Shark as the Gtech AirRam doesn’t come with any accessories and is only suitable for cleaning the floor.

Importantly, Lift-Away mode is easy to activate, with the cylinder lifting off effortlessly. With a total weight of 6.7kg, the NZ860UKT isn’t light, but Lift-Away does make it more nimble. The main difference between the two is that you get more choice with Shark and they have more features that can make them slightly longer to learn how to use not that they are difficult in the first place it’s just that with Gtech there is nothing to it. What kind of features does Shark have that Gtech don’t?This is in addition to already well established features such as flexology which is a “bendy” central column to make it easier to get under low areas without bending down, duo clean for both carpet and hard floors in one seamless roller and anti hair wrap to ensure you never have to do that horrible job of cutting out the hair that always wraps around the roller. There's a suite of onboard tools which can be used with this vac too, Molly's favourite being the Anti Hair Wrap Power Tool which is great for upholstery and smaller jobs. How we test Shark vacuums These are all the Gtech vacuum cleaners with a breakdown of the differences between them: Gtech Mk2 AirRam Cordless Upright Vacuum Cleaner The Shark Stratos Anti Hair Wrap Plus Pet Pro Cordless Vacuum IZ420UKT marks a big change in design and strategy for the vacuum cleaner company, introducing a host of new features, including a new floor head, an Anti-Odour pod and automatic power modes. It’s a triumph of power, features and design. Gtech only does cordless vacuum cleaners so if you want to compare Gtech specifically to Shark cordless and you want to rule out corded completely then this is a complete breakdown of all of Sharks cordless vacuums:

Once its all said and done Gtech is best if you want a hoover that is ultra-easy to use and resembles the way that vacuum cleaners were in the past except massively upgraded with excellent suction and they are very light making them really easy to move across the surface you are cleaning. Shark claims that it has all the power of a corded vacuum cleaner but in cordless form, and after testing we couldn't agree more. It's got DuoClean which makes switching modes immensely straightforward, and the controls make it easy to see how much battery you have left. To charge, simply lift out the battery on the side of the dust tank and pop it into its charging port. One full battery will give you 15-20 minutes of use and it’s not hard on the wrists either weighing just 1.5kg DuoCleanis Shark's self-adjusting brush roll that automatically adapts to carpet and hard floor without you having to switch over.Shark is one of the top vacuum cleaner brands in the world and has taken on Dyson at the premium end of the market but Gtech is a bit of a hidden gem when it comes to keeping the hoovering simple whilst Shark offer something for all home types but who is the best? Some of the best value for money within vacuum cleaners as a whole is in corded as they provide the same power as equivalent cordless models but there is no expensive battery to pay for and you can also vacuum for as long as you want because it’s plugged into the wall so the battery will never run out. It takes less than 2 minutes to set it up and it’s good to go. If you are not into tech and you are not interested in LCD displays and you just want something that’s going to keep your floor clean with no fuss then the Gtech is a winner. The compromise you have to make is a cable which actually isn’t as bad as it sounds. Until recent years all hoovers were corded and was it really that much of an inconvenience?

Those days are gone with a Shark anti-hair wrap vacuum cleaner. Most of their hoovers now come with a cleverly designed brush head that totally stops all hair form ever becoming wrapped around the brush every again. When using it to clean her car, Helen was very impressed with the overall performance, with the vac effectively removing dirt from her car. It did struggle a little more to collect hairs from the carpet, but overall the suction was strong. This corded model provides suction power the same as the top-end premium models from both Shark and Dyson but its an awful lot cheaper. This wand has an articulating elbow that allows the vacuum to be folded up and stored upright, and it also allows you to more easily vacuum under low furniture. There’s a large display on top of the handle that shows the battery level and the power mode you’re using.

There is one button to turn the Gtech AirRam hoover on and the same button to turn it off. There are no buttons that turn it into a handheld hoover and it doesn’t have the kind of specification and features that require you to read through a long manual to work out how it works. The Shark Stratos Anti Hair Wrap Plus Pet Pro IZ400UKT comes heartily recommended. It’s a terrific cleaner at a good price. Its performance in our tests rivals that of vastly more expensive models, and I love the fact that you don’t need to switch the floor head over when moving from one surface to another. You get 4 different options to choose from so you can get exactly what suits the size of home you have and whether or not you have pets. It comes with a single or twin battery and with or without a motorised pet tool

Most vacuum cleaners have a brush roller because they do a good job on both hard floor and carpets but to get the best results you should switch between the two. This is the top of the range cordless model from Shark and is suitable for all homes but particularly large homes that require frequent deep cleaning. This performance even beats the Dyson Gen5detect, which left more Cheerios behind on a single pass across hard floor, although it, too, didn’t struggle to collect the remainder on a second pass. There are also selectable Eco and Boost modes available if you want to take control. Eco can be useful for delicate items, such as vacuuming a keyboard, while the Boost mode is a good choice for when there’s a lot of mess to deal with.
