The Good Life tells a great story and an easy read. I enjoyed it, although some of the graphic detail of murders were a bit difficult. If you are not easily offended by bad language or violence, you might enjoy The Good Life too. As one of the many who took part in baby farming - a late nineteenth and early twentieth-century adoption and fostering method - Amelia Dyer was a cold-hearted woman who killed the infants placed with her rather than taking care of them. This was my first Martina Cole book so my expectations were fairly high...after all Cole is considered to be one of the great British best-selling crime authors. What I expected was a gripping and gritty crime novel, what I got was a complete mess. DI Kate Burrows is about to enter an investigation that will change her career and personal life forever. But she has no idea just what this killer is capable of, and how much she might be putting at risk to find him.
