While it's only weight tested to 20kg this carrier is perfectly capable of carrying a much larger child. This passed the stress test of taking a small baby on a plane trip and busy city holiday, making everything easier. The straps were the most comfortable for me, I was carrying a good deal of weight and the padding was generous. So we bought the Ergo baby based on the good review, my baby hates it, I guess it was too tight for her and the seat part is not all comfy.

I just told him to climb on my back from the bed and pulled the carrier around his back, on my arms, and secured the chest buckle. Packed with practical features, this carrier unites form and function into an all-in-one must-have for your growing family! I was pleasantly surprised with the added details on the Beco: he pouch that snaps on and off, removable and appropriately sized hood, and the carry bag are nice touches. Like the Connecta it folds up relatively small and doesn't weigh much and so is a good option for independent toddlers who are up and down alot and thus you end up carrying the sling empty as much as you actually use it! I tried out the Beco Toddler, Líllébaby Carry On, and Tula Toddler SSC’s (soft-structure carriers, AKA buckle carriers). We're currently at the stage where everything goes in her mouth, but the fabric is soft and doesn't chafe her sensitive skin. The seat is MUCH wider and taller than on a “regular” carrier, which makes it much more comfortable for both mom and kiddo. In the photos shown Tom has just turned 3 and you can see he is fitting well but doesn't really have much growing room left. This rucksack-style carrier has an impressive design – it's structured and supportive with generous padding, yet it's surprisingly soft and lightweight. It is worth noting that Tula have recently brought out a preschooler size which is bigger still and would be the better choice for carrying Rachel going forward!

The library has variously owned 9 different toddler carriers - including some of the best known brands. Make sure you follow the advice, particularly relating to the minimum and maximum weights for each carrying position.Tom is shown in the wider setting and on this wider setting he is supported to at least mid-thigh and again has a great seated position with his bottom lower than his knees. Trained and Insured Babywearing Consultant and owner of Sheen Slings Sling Library and Consultancy in South West London. I personally preferred the front positions for Elodie, where you simply buckle up the thick waist band, carefully place your baby either facing in or out, then pull each strap over your shoulders while supporting the baby before buckling up the strap at the top of your back.

I say usually because on certain days he completely rebelled and I was forced to carry his heavy body to and from. The Beco Toddler does an excellent job of distributing your child's weight with a well-padded waist band and comfortable, crossable shoulder straps. The Beco Toddler can also be machine washed on a cool cycle if necessary, again using a mild detergent. Toddler carriers that accommodate the weight and height of children up to 60 pounds are filling a need and judging by their popularity, one that is only going to grow as people see the value in extending their babywearing into toddlerhood and beyond. They can be worn like a backpack or in a crossover style to evenly distribute baby's weight and ensure a snug fit, which may be better for petite parents. As discussed for the KiBi, this is a great carrier for a child with low muscle tone because the back panel is so high. Additionally there are perfect fit adjusters on the shoulder straps which allow more petite parents to get a nice snug fit while back carrying. First we got an original babybjorn (hands me down), while my baby was okay with it, she quickly outgrow it (she is now 14 lbs) and since it doesn’t have the waistband, it kills my back. The Beco was the only carrier that I really fiddled with to get the perfect fit on the straps and chest clip.
