I think, given how easy it is to block (and how helpful blocking is), there’s a real incentive to just make your own piles and let well enough alone for players that don’t like take-that. To keep the set from being stolen by another player, the best thing you can do is to Cover Your Assets, by creating a new pair from your hand, or by stealing a set from the top of another player’s stack during your next turn. Every other asset you place will be set on top of the previous asset cross-cross, so that all assets made are kept separate. With only 4 cards in hand, it can be tricky knowing when to try to bury valuable wild cards in our assets stacks or when to hold on to them for defending against attacks.I’ll likely try to do more in the future (Skull King is part of a trilogy of card games, so I’m hoping they end up bringing the other two over from Europe), but for now I’m looking at Cover Your Assets, a game about high-value stuff collection and, of course, its inevitable theft. When playing with three players you use all of the cards and each player only has a hand of five cards. Once you have at least one set of assets in your stack, you may attempt to steal assets from any player with two sets of assets in their stack. Once the draw pile is empty, players continue taking turns until everyone has played all cards from their hands.

And you can always tell who has a matching card in their hand by the glint they get in their eyes knowing that they may have a good chance to swipe that asset from a battle weary opponent.

Sure, you may not get it for yourself, but it keeps it moving in the game, so maybe you can get it later on. However when you attempt this your opponent can challenge the set and try to steal it away from you. You're not defenseless though; you can reveal your own matching assets or wild cards to protect your top set. If you cannot make a pair or challenge, then you would need to discard a card from your hand into the discard pile. Even with the three decks of cards, the game was overwhelming and not fun because it was never your turn to play.
