Description

Unable to believe that their father would do such a terrible thing as steal, they decide to do everything they can to investigate further. Arthur and Maudie, the Brightstorm children embark on an epic journey to find out the truth behind their father’s mysterious disappearance and at the same time, be the first to reach South Polaris. At one point there was an absolute loss, including the guilt of getting at least one character killed, all evidence lost and facing the fate of the main characters father.

Arthur and Maudie Brightstorm receive devastating news: their famous explorer father has died in a failed attempt to reach South Polaris. To make matters worse, the Lontown Geographical Society finds Ernest Brightstorm guilty of sabotaging the expedition of his competitor, Eudora Vane, a respected and powerful member of the Society. It’s a whacking adventure of honour and fair play winning out against all manner of foul and dastardly deeds. Joining the ragtag crew of a homemade sky-ship captained by the intrepid Harriet Culpepper, Arthur and Maudie race to South Polaris to salvage their family’s reputation and find out what really happened on their father’s doomed expedition. It being an adventure with definite British overtones, I can guarantee you that you will hear some funny names and a lot about tea.

As members of Twins Trust (a national charity supporting parents of twins, triplets and more), we wanted to share our Brightstorm experience with other twin families in the hopes that they would find as much joy and meaning in the books as we had. At a time where much of The Great Wide is yet to be explored a battle wages amongst intrepid explorers to be the first to reach South Polaris. I read Brightstorm as part of the primary school teachers' book club on Twitter and absolutely loved it - a well-deserved five stars given and it's now up there with my favourite recent releases in children's literature. Arthur and Maudie Brightstorm are devastated to learn that their famous explorer father has died in a failed attempt to reach South Polaris, the southernmost point in the world. The writing is absolutely stunning and I listened to the audiobook on the side and the audiobook was incredible - there was adventurous music you'd hear in movies like Indiana Jones and it really set the mood. What they’ve been told about their father doesn’t make sense and they are determined to discover the truth and clear their family name. Twins Maudie and Arthur Brightstorm are left alone in the world when their explorer father dies on a daring expedition to the unchartered territory South Polaris.

Not only is it a good story, with a steady buildup to the exciting race at the end, but it has great characters. The journey through the skies goes smoothly, but disaster strikes when they reach the third continent. Vashti Hardy was a primary school teacher for several years and has always had a keen interest in children’s writing, leading to her MA in Creative Writing from the University of Chichester.Could a random newspaper advertisement seeking a crew for a Sky-ship adventure to the South Polaris offer the twins an escape route? At the beginning of the story, Arthur and Maudie are left without parents to support them but the twins always have each other. Officially a middle-grade fantasy, Brightstorm was a fun, rousing adventure so long as I didn’t overanalyze it.

Certaines résolutions de problèmes sont un peu simple mais il s’agit d’un roman destiné aux 9-12 ans, je pense que le scénario est parfait pour cette tranche d’âge. Now we’re so excited to read the third book, Firesong, but are a bit sad that the adventures have come to an end so soon.Their ship has been sabotaged, and now they've crashed into a wasteland where giant beasts, who apprently attacked their father's crew, prowl through the snow. Vashti Hardy's breathtaking middle grade fantasies are published across the world in several languages. Brightstorm has quickly become one of my all-time favourites, and it's one I'll read again with great joy. To make matters worse, the Lontown Geographical Society finds Ernest Brightstorm guilty of sabotaging the expedition of his competitor, Eudora Vane. Synopsis: Synopsis: Twins Arthur and Maudie Brightstorm receive word in Lontown that their famous explorer father has died in a failed attempt to reach the southernmost point in the world.
