It’s a small town so nothing is secret and everything is fair game for comment, except, obviously, for the identity of the person behind this latest mayhem. I’m so happy I got into these cozy mysteries, they are delightful and the character development is spot on!

Overall I think this is totally worth it, it has all the cozy vibes one could want, characters that are fun and with depth, a dog that is the most lovable thing, a slight romantic touch and a lot of mystery. Romantic attachments that have been bubbling for a while are cemented, whilst the untrustworthy members of the town have been routed. The whole series has a televisual quality and I can’t wait for the French dramatised version of the stories to hit the Saturday night BBC4 schedules.

However, as I kept reading I did get more into the swing of the current story and found it a compelling read. Born with a wanderlust that keeps her moving, Julia has followed her restless feet to Japan, Australia, the USA and France.

Heureusement qu'il y a une suite sinon j'aurais eu un goût de trop peu tellement j'aime cette saga, et la fin m'aurait paru expéditive en ce qui concerne les relations entre les personnages. in fact they were all leading up to this book which makes me hope that this is not the last that we hear from the Dales detective agency.Je ne sais pas si c'est le dernier tome, mais l'enquête fil rouge du début est désormais résolue et je trouve ça bien qu'elle ne se soit pas trop étirée en longueur. That leaves space to concentrate on the main plot line and for tying up of loose ends, while still leaving enough of a cliff hanger to please even the most ardent of thriller fans. There were a few minor disappointments: fiction in general seems to miss out on proofreading and the text has several typos.

The reader knows who it is as the novel is told from various points of view, but they don’t know the lengths he will go to or why. I must say that I hadn't even realised this book was out until I saw it on the shelves in W H Smith! Great descriptions of the landscape, characters and the shenanigans of the locals who inhabit her pages.Delilah, along with Samson O’Brien, begin to investigate what appears to be a straightforward case little realising that several of their cases are about to collide and enter more sinister territory. Developments in Samson and Delilah's relationship, as well as several others, are front and centre, but all while tying together a few seemingly unrelated jobs that have come into the Dales Detective Agency. There are lots of little things left unsolved from the previous volumes that are answered, and the people of Bruncliffe are not at the end of their surprises. I think that it would be quite difficult to enjoy this one without having read the previous books in the series.
