I thoroughly enjoyed Death at the Chateau, which is a lighthearted romp in the Loire region with a good mystery attached. Full details of your rights under the Distance Selling Regulations are available in the UK from your local Citizens' Advice Bureau or your Local Authority's Trading Standards Office. Book 3: "Death at the Chateau" (Hardback): In this thrilling hardback edition, Monsieur Pamplemousse is invited to a grand chateau owned by a wealthy and eccentric countess.

Coming to the mystery behind the suspicious deaths and Lionel receiving threatening letters – both these mysteries kept me guessing till the end. I have read all of the Follet Valley books and have enjoyed them all immensely, however if I have one complaint it is that this book was not as laugh out loud funny as the others hence the 4 star only this time.

Ian Moore's "A Follet Valley Mystery" 3 Books Collection Set delivers a delightful and immersive reading experience for mystery enthusiasts and lovers of the French countryside.

Set in picturesque regions of France, this marvelous mystery is peppered with quirky characters and humor, and a whole lot of sleuthing and side stories. And my only word of warning to those who haven't read these mysteries (and anyone needing a lift in life owes it to themselves to do so! Richard and Valérie lead an engaging cast of characters and the setting of a Renaissance chateau with real-life Napoleonic connections is well integrated with the mystery plot. To get to the bottom of things, Valérie d’Orçay and Richard offer catering services to the hastily resumed production.A film crew, no less, have taken over the bed and breakfast owned by Richard Ainsworth whilst shooting at the Chateau de Valencay. Jag var inte så förtjust i de tidigare delarna så efter lite funderande så har jag kommit fram till att jag struntar i denna bok och serie. Ian Moore has such an incredible way of building his world and the characters that live within it that makes everyone feel over the top and exaggerated but relatable. A TV/radio regular, he stars in Dave’s satirical TV show Unspun and Channel 5’s topical comedy Big Mouths.

The denouement is quick and feels sudden, in that I feel they get the answers from out of thin air, but the end is suitably interesting. Another guest, the exotic Valérie, persuades a reluctant Richard to join her in investigating the disappearance. Please include what you were doing when this page came up and the Cloudflare Ray ID found at the bottom of this page. Death and the Chateau is light, wry and frequently, laugh (not just smile) out loud funny but just as importantly, a genuine crime fiction puzzle. The solution to the mystery is far-fetched and disappointing, but the journey to get to it is delightful.

While in the first book Richard was a former cinematography professor who has opened a boutique hotel in France with his wife, which he had been left to run alone (except for his beloved flock of chickens and a grumbling housekeeper), and suddenly he has a new guest who has moved in without his knowledge while ignoring no pets clause, and he also has to find the missing guest and the murderer of his precious chicken . I must say it took me a bit longer to get into this one due to the introduction of so many new characters at once, but this really is a hilarious read and perfect for fans of the ‘cosy crime’ genre.A murder mystery on a film set and Richard been in his element as his worlds collide giving a gripping story.
