About this deal

Alternatively, you can even get a subtle glow with some of the modern classic lenses that use single coatings or no coatings, like the Voigtlander SC lenses and even some of my Kipon lenses produce a nice glow in some situations.

Let me know in the comments which filters you use on your X100-series camera, because I’d love to know. Whether using it on daytime for backlit scenes or during nighttime to enhance the halos of city lights and car lights it works very well if you like that style. The effect it gives is mainly marked when we frame light sources, creates the halo of light around the main source, whether it is the sun or an artificial light. Much will depend on how much of an effect you want to see from the diffusion filter but after my first outing with the 5% version I think I may prefer this over the 10% version.Fujicolor Super HG v2 is a highly versatile Film Simulation Recipe that—because it uses the Auto White Priority white balance—you can use anytime of the day or night. I think the reasons listed by Moment make sense but depending on your shooting style you may get different mileage out of a diffusion filter and it is perhaps not for everyone. k. if referenced shortly or once in a while but I think we should live in a today's world and not try to mimicry the past.

I bought it for photography in broad daylight, but surely one of its best applications is with lights at night where you can appreciate more this diffusion of color and brightness. I've spent so long in editing programs just to get a subpar hazy/soft affect on my photos, but this filter is what I've needed this whole time to streamline my photography workflow. This effect reminds me of a more exaggerated “Leica Glow” that you get from older classic lenses before the advent of modern coatings, the Helios 44-2 lenses come to mind.I have been using this diffusion filter for most of my street photography projects and portrait shoots. These filters can be used for lifting contrast and also creating halation, or glowing effects to specular light sources in a scene.

Think stills from a motion picture, or photographs captured with cinema film that has had the Remjet layer removed. Another filter that I really appreciate is the Tiffen Black Pro-Mist at 1/4, which offers a more controlled look.To diffuse this incoming light, we can either use light modifiers or filters – and both work differently.
