I think my favorite gag is Flora not being scared by the house’s actual ghosts because she attributes the mischief to Creepy Cat. We have no idea how these specters are a part of this story, and it added to my frustration of mysteries being teased with no hints to what it might mean.

Not only is the titular character visually distinguished from other characters by his shading, hair, lips, and overall size, unfortunately neither Shakespeare nor the illustrator seem wholly prepared for a contemporary conversation regarding racial representation in one of literature’s most infamous depictions of othering. Please note that all shipments to the US and Rest of World destinations may be subject to import duties and taxes, which are levied once a shipment reaches your country. In another scene, a boogeyman-type character is about to break into the house, but Creepy Cat sneaks up on him and scares him away. I’m excited to see where this story goes, as the first volume teases many possible narrative routes (romantic engagements between Flora and Oscar? It’s little vignettes from Flora’s every day life, trying to take care of a cat that is sometimes one being, sometimes several. In Valent’s episodic, humorously grim graphic novel, presented in the yonkoma style, Flora, a thin, pale-skinned figure with long black hair and large bloodshot eyes, inhabits a horror film–esque mansion inherited “from a distant relative.

The set and costuming are deliberately simple: The background is white, and Macbeth’s “armor” is a leather jacket. This series follows the adventures of Flora and her kitty as she works around his ludicrous corporeal form and the humans in her orbit try to figure out what is up with the house. Flora moves into a house she has just inherited and she finds out that it's inhabited by a curious creature, creepy cat! It's good enough that I'm getting the next volume from the library, but I do feel a little something is getting lost in translation. Les persos sont géniaux (oui même Oscar le flic qui se fait tout le temps bully par Creepy Cat et Flora) et Jaime bien l’histoire qui se dessine.Afghanistan, Albania, Algeria, American Samoa, Andorra, Angola, Anguilla, Argentina, Armenia, Azerbaijan Republic, Belarus, Benin, Bhutan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Botswana, British Virgin Islands, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Cape Verde Islands, Central African Republic, Chad, Channel Islands, Comoros, Cook Islands, Côte d'Ivoire (Ivory Coast), Democratic Republic of the Congo, Djibouti, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Falkland Islands (Islas Malvinas), Fiji, French Polynesia, Gabon Republic, Gambia, Georgia, Ghana, Greenland, Guam, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Guyana, Haiti, India, Iraq, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Kiribati, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Lebanon, Lesotho, Liberia, Libya, Macedonia, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Marshall Islands, Mauritania, Mauritius, Mayotte, Micronesia, Moldova, Mongolia, Montenegro, Morocco, Mozambique, Namibia, Nauru, Nepal, Netherlands Antilles, New Caledonia, Niger, Nigeria, Niue, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Puerto Rico, Republic of the Congo, Russian Federation, Rwanda, Saint Helena, Saint Pierre and Miquelon, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, San Marino, Senegal, Serbia, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Solomon Islands, Somalia, Suriname, Svalbard and Jan Mayen, Swaziland, Tajikistan, Tanzania, Togo, Tonga, Tunisia, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Tuvalu, Uganda, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Vanuatu, Vatican City State, Venezuela, Virgin Islands (U. Will she end up as one more ghost in her own house, or will Creepy Cat out-prowl and out-swat those bad boys? I also loved the little touches of spookiness here and there, like the ghost living in Flora's house or the random spirits scattered throughout. The graphic novel offers little scenes from Flora and creepy cat's daily life together and it was all quite funny to read. Why humans project so much depth and mystery onto cats is not fully understood, but it’s a fact that the feline species absolutely captivate us.

The story is very episodic with each page being a single short that begins to slowly build toward a narrative arc (it is quickly apparent it began as a webcomic), and while it does read as a bit chaotic and jumpy this is only the first volume so it is still finding a story.

Every page has its own title, which shows this comes from a web-series, and not all the "chapters" are equally compelling. He can replicate himself, change size and shape, and fly, but he also engages in typical cat behavior—knocking a cup of water off the table and bringing a dead bug to his human. This content is hosted by a third party provider that does not allow video views without acceptance of Targeting Cookies. There’s the local man trying to win Flora’s affections plus two paranormal investigators getting to the bottom of the ghostly presence in the mansion. This may have been originally a Japanese manga, but it is all done by a non-Japanese national, a rarity in itself.

If you don’t love being a recipient of their generosity, place a bell on their collar to alert their prey. There’s no story here, and that should be made very clear, so mainly one is looking at a series of comic drawings with no rhyme or reason behind them- but the book is still entertaining and worth checking out for the great artwork… for the creepy cat, of course. While this is a relatively normal cat behavior, it can also quickly cross a line into dangerous territory.Since 2014, Cotton Valent’s hilarious webcomic Meawbin The Creepy Cat has charmed online audiences across the world.
