There are shades of Antonia Barber’s novel Ghosts and its subsequent film adaptation The Amazing Mr Blunden (1972) about War Games with Caroline but that’s not to its detriment – it has enough interesting new wrinkles of its own to prevent it from being a simple copycat. KIDS' GHOST STORY about an old house recently moved into by a family who then experience poltergeist activity soon after. my father actually had to take me outside to try and explain there would be no way that there could be a secret room in our house by pointing out the distance inbetween the windows. I remember one of the kid actors In that was Simon Schatzberger who later appeared in that classic Yellow Pages advert as the teenager who discovers a scratch on his parent’s expensive table after a wild party. All seven episodes of Spooky were available on a now out-of-print Network DVD which is very much worth the time and effort it might take in tracking down.

It wouldn’t have been out of place in the BBC’s Ghost Story for Christmas strand and the creepy ghost of the long-missing father (Christopher Bramwell) seemingly emerging from a photograph on the wall remains the show’s most indelible image. I’m surprised this series never gets mentioned whenever they have any list of Terrifying Childhood TV Moments . When they originally sired back in the early eighties, I was a tv-less student so, unlike students today with their endless loop of countdown and Jeremy Kyle, I never actually saw any 'Dramarama' - let alone this expressly spooky version. if anna home of TVS created the strand at the time did thames asked permission from her to use the 'dramarama' name in 'spooky' before it started? The whole episode is a little strange as it all seems to be set in the hyper-white 'Clockwork Orange' style studio - which only adds to the general creepiness.According to the chronicler Ralph of Coggeshall, a naked wild man, covered in hair, was caught in the nets of local fishermen. When Caroline vanishes into the past once more, Kevin is reluctantly drawn after her and finds himself battling to save thirty lives.

Thus, each episode was in practice a one-off production with its own cast and crew, up to and including the executive producer. Eighteenth century aristocrat the ninth Earl of Rillington (Robert McBain) is murdered by a debtor and has remained haunting his ancestral home awaiting a chance at revenge. The last tenant, a gamekeeper shot himself and his daughter later bought the cottage but did nothing with it expect strip the roof and leave it to rot. Spooky, and later Dramarama, was a hotbed of experimentation both in the scripts and the direction and The Exorcism of Amy is no different, boasting an unusual story structure which is told for much of the time entirely by twelve-year old Elisabeth (Annabelle Lanyon) who speaks directly to the viewer from a pristine white room.

I have recently watched the first instalement of 'Shadows' which is some 7 years older but much more 'spooky' - so it's not my current age! Spooky aired shortly before the main series was broadcast, exploring the supernatural vein that would appear throughout Dramarama s run.A precursor to the later Dramarama series, Spooky explores the supernatural, and ventures into the dark corners of the imagination. Uniquely, various episodes were made by different ITV franchises and the first series was broadcast in two parts. A game of scrabble and a poem set the scene for the conclusion as the secret of the house is revealed. Was one of the stories about a young lad, who moves into a house and everytime he sees his reflection (in a mirror or puddle) he goes back in time (Victorian I think) and meets this girl who haunts him. Over coffee we get the info dump on the lodge, never a happy place or somewhere that people stayed for long.

Note: Our refurbished grades - Pristine, Very Good and Good - are solely based on the cosmetic condition of the phone. There’s nothing in the dark that isn’t there during the day,’ Elizabeth drones menacingly, doing her best to make comfort as unsettling as possible. At one point she tried to keep Lucy trapped in Victorian times by concealing all the mirrors in the house.
