As is common with these combo packs, the blu-ray half of the pack is the same old blu-ray from the previous release, in this case Anchor Bay's 2010 blu. There have been fewer issues of Evil Dead 2 in general, and we don't have the dual fullscreen/ widescreen thing going on (although Anchor Bay did once include an open matter version as a bonus on one of their old discs, possibly just out of habit).

Trapped within the twisted, nightmarish corridors, the sisters must fight for their lives and find a way to close the portal before evil engulfs the world. If you intend on using the disc regularly, you might want to keep it in a separate DVD or jewel CD case instead, as sliding it in and out of the slipcase will build up scratches over time, no matter how careful you are. Bruce Campbell: Geek or God The same contributors as before consider the importance of Bruce Campbell to the franchise, in this short featurette. Sam Raimi’s horror classic THE EVIL DEAD is available on 4k Ultra HD for the first time on November 16 courtesy of Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. In the original version this is a completely static shot throughout; from her looking out the window, turning round, until it cuts to the next shot. The Palace Boys Meet The Evil Dead (13min) – in association with Blue Underground, this featurette is a look at one British company’s finding of the film (considered a “Video Nasty” back in the day) and getting the rights to it.

This subtle colder change seems to alter the whole 'feel' of the movie and the film seems much scarier because of it. Sam talks us through the process of making the first film, and most importantly raising the finance for it. Even though some colours have a bit more pop than what is on the Elite disc, it’s not my preferred image. And even though this disc features a Campbell-approved image, I much prefer the Raimi approved transfer from Elite and would like Starz to attempt to acquire it or have Raimi revisit it again. Whether this release is up-scaled, or simply the quality limits of the 16mm film on which it was shot being reached, is unknown. This was actually the first 'Book Of The Dead' style home release anywhere in the world; in July 19, 2001.

Oh, and there are also little easter eggs of a make-up test and footage from an Evil Dead screening, plus an 8-page booklet. Accompanying the main feature, are a host of new and exclusive extras, along with a couple lifted from earlier releases. But it's worth the trouble, because the bonus disc includes some really great stuff, many of which was brand new for this release.

The only way to tell the limited edition and non-limited edition blu-rays apart, at least by their front covers, is the green stripe running along the top. Both the widescreen versions, and the full screen version on the Ultimate Edition are virtually identical, and the untampered versions. The 2002 US R1/2 Anchor Bay The Evil Dead: Book Of The Dead DVD sparked a debate over whether The Evil Dead should be seen in widescreen of fullscreen. I never thought another release of The Evil Dead would make it to DVD after The Book of the Dead release.
