Messing around with his nanny is a terrible idea, but something about Cozy brings out Max's baser instincts. I’m a sucker for the single dad trope anyways, and who doesn’t love a good “the single dad falls for the nanny trope”…but this story had so many amazing layers to it that it almost seems like a disservice to condense it down to those tropes. My eleven going on twenty-year-old looks up at my with her lethal robin-blue eyes that make me doubt my manhood every single day.
As soon as the hero starts getting into it with the heroine, I'm turned off by him and usually angry with him. Max and Cozy are very taken with one another from the start, I was surprised how quickly they start up their secret hookups, which of course lead to more later.This hero steals the show with his combination of sweet and alpha/businessman and caveman, but I also loved the vibrant heroine who has unexpected sides of her own.
One Thursday lunchtime the Earth gets unexpectedly demolished to make way for a new hyperspace bypass. I’m not someone who works out a lot but I don’t think it is necessary to think negatively about any body type or to use the heroes previous preference to compare to the heroine. Cozy is an awesome plus size heroine who has her small moments of insecurity but overall, is a confident FMC who isn't trying to change her body.Max needs a nanny for his daughter for the summer and the plus sized whirlwind that invades his life is someone he never saw coming. There's so much tension between them, and their first kiss was preceded by a couple of laugh out loud moments on my part. But I’m all about giving an author a second chance and I’m so glad I did try this one because it worked for me so much better!
The story centers around Cassandra (Cozy) who takes a job as a nanny (you'll find out why as the story progresses) for sweet 11yr old Everly. But he's been very badly burned by love before, so he's not about to take a step into anything more with his beautiful, sassy nanny.Max is trying to find a nanny for daughter for the summer (his ex wife is away working), and Cozy is the last on the list of interviews. He tries to be stern (occasionally grumpy) but really under his CEO suit, he's loveable and adoring. The most annoying and distracting part of this book for me was Cozy’s constant insecurities and fat-shaming inner critic. We get nice updates from past characters in the series and a satisfying epilogue, so if you have been following the series it might be worth reading this one.
