Plus, they’re made of bright yellow plastic and attach to discs that are the same color, so it’s not as if they’re a direct recreation of the poles from the show. The bright red tunic looks stunning with the yellow “threads” running down the torso, and the R symbol pops wonderfully on the black field against the red of the suit. That’s a common comment with most of the McFarlane figures I’ve seen, though, but the accessories that are included with Batman are pretty genius: two attachable “sound effects. When trouble strikes, BRUCE and DICK become the heroic BATMAN™ and ROBIN™, a secret known only to their dutiful butler, ALFRED PENNYWORTH™.

That may have been because the more acrobatic Boy Wonder lends himself to inspiration easier than the more stoic Caped Crusader, but I had some fun getting some good shots out of Robin.

Obviously the articulation is more limited, but I think the sculpts and coloring are either on par or in some cases better.

The best Batmobile of all comes to McFarlane Toys’ Batman ’66 range for use with your Surfing Batman and plain old non-surfing Robin figures! Scarred by acid into outwardly becoming the monster he once hid away from the world, Two-Face has become a tragic figure and one of Batman’s most unpredictable and dangerous opponents. This is awful packaging and it should be outlawed by the Hague Convention on the Just and Humane Treatment of Toys. As for styling, I think the only thing that detracts from Batman is the bulk of his utility belt, otherwise everything looks fantastic.I am excited to see how this will look with McFarlane’s Batcave playset when I eventually get to opening it.

I already dipped into the Retro 66 Batman pool a short while ago with a look at Boxing Batman and Riddler, but today I’m going to go back to basics by checking out the Dynamic Duo and their bitchin ride. That having been said, mine came from a reputable online retailer and it arrived clean and unscathed. This means they won’t snap or break easily, which is great considering how thin and delicate they are, but that also makes them pretty easy to warp. Bubble wrap is still used for fragile items and some preowned toys but the majority of our parcels use brown kraft paper. So let me just say straightaway that McFarlane’s 66 Batmobile is a step down in every conceivable way from Mattel’s release. The only other minor complaint I have is actually kind of a plus, too: the three exhaust pipes on the rear of the body and the two “fins” that surround the light at the top of the cockpit are made of soft plastic.

The backside has the sculpted parachute pouches, which is a great touch, but that turbine is just itching for a flame effect part that wasn’t included. OVERALL: If you love Batman: The Classic TV Series, there is no reason why you shouldn’t track down every single one of these pieces. Mattel’s 66 Batman line combined these familiar comic visuals with the figure stands and that was a good idea, but it’s not like McFarlane could have copied that.Yes, dear reader, you can clip a POW or a KAPOW to Batman’s wrists to show just how hard he is punching crime in the face. Like Batman, Robin is nice and posable, and I was even able to get a few more unique shots out of him than I was with Bats. The paint application on his face and the colors of his costume are positively wonderful, with his olive green hair and pasty pallor complementing the light purple suit. Still, I’d take that over a potential break, and considering how great the overall vehicle looks, it’s a fair trade.
