SOOTHING AND LUBRICATING: relieves ocular discomfort and irritation associated with dry eyes and environmental factors such as wind, salt-water, smoke or computer work. Hold the bottle or dropper over your eye, look up, and allow 1 drop to fall into your lower eyelid. If you are using more than one type of eye drop you should administer them at least 15 minutes before or after Celluvisc, to prevent the second drop washing away the first. Use eye gels or ointments last. If patient experiences transient blurring of vision, they should be advised not to drive or operating machinery until vision is clear. Counselling

Carmellose is a synthetic polymer that forms a viscous eye gel. It produces a transparent, lubricating and moistening film on the surface of the eye and is used as artificial tears. These eye drops are unlikely to have any harmful effect when used during pregnancy or breastfeeding. However, as with all medicines, these drops should be used with caution by women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, and only on the advice of a doctor. Celluvisc eye drops contain the active ingredient carmellose sodium, which is a type of medicine known as an eye lubricant. It is used for the treatment of the symptoms of dry eye (such as soreness, burning, irritation or dryness) caused by your eye not producing enough tears to keep the eye wet. Application may cause transient blurring of vision; patients should avoid driving or operating machinery until vision is clear. Pregnancy and Lactation Pregnancy Patient: I have recently been diagnosed with dry eye disease by my optician. I wear glasses, and Dr. Chowdhary recommended these drops for me. I just wondered if there was anything else I could do to help?Detailed requirements for Specialist Centre initiation to be described in the wording of the formulary restriction

It is strongly recommended that the UK National Poisons Information Service be consulted on cases of suspected or actual overdose where there is doubt over the degree of risk or about appropriate management. Suggest that patients use an air humidifier. This will help to moisten the air, which can help to reduce the risk of eyes drying out; There are a widevariety ofover-the-counter treatments, which can help patients with milddry eye disease. Over-the-counter treatments for dry eye disease are available in several differentformulationsincludingdrops, gels, creams, ointments and sprays. Some oftheseformulations are known as ‘artificialtears’. Eye drops: You only need to place one drop in each eye. If you need to give more than one type of eye drop, leave at least five minutes between applying each type of medicine. It’s also very important to keep your eyelids clean. Wipes, pads or rinses are available to buy from pharmacies, or you can simply use warm water.

7. Cautions with other medicines

These eye drops should not be used for more than six months after the bottle is first opened. This is because after this time they could be contaminated with dirt or germs that could cause eye infections. Write the date of opening on the bottle so you know when to throw them away. Dispose of them carefully, preferably by returning them to your pharmacy. Repeat in your other eye if you need to. There is enough liquid in 1 single-dose dropper to put a drop in both eyes if needed. The side effects listed above may not include all of the side effects reported by the medicine's manufacturer. For more information about any other possible risks associated with this medicine, please read the information provided with the medicine or consult your doctor or pharmacist.
