About this deal

The added benefit of doing all this will be that if you ever decided to use that fireplace for a wood burner, providing you choose a stove fit for the purpose of your fireplace and room, the chimney is set up ready for a flexible flue liner installation, which should inevitably save you some costs toward the installation. 2019-05-06T20:30:02+01:00 NFPA 211 changed the Cross-sectional code for venting in to a larger flue. The former code allowed 3x the flue collar cross-sectional area . An example of this is the high effeciench gas furnaces and hotwater heaters, use schedule 40 PVC drain pipe to direct vent there furnaces. The pvc pipe manufactures only test and certify their pipes for water flows and pressures. ITs up to the furnace manufactures to test the drain PVC pipe for their application. Before the closure plate design commences I usually connect my “adaptor” to the bottom of the chimney liner (adaptors can have differing lengths of nose and have two methods of attaching to the liner – bolts or self tappers). If using self tappers they will pass through the liner and both walls of the adaptor (choose a length so they only protrude a few mm into the inside surface of the adaptor). Better still buy our adaptor with captive wing nuts. Note also extra inspection hatches also aid fitting and inspection (only possible on larger closure plates and no good if adding insulating beads, ( insulating a liner I do not advise as a rule).

Open and close the door on a cheap Chinese stove. Then open and close the door on a DG stove, Arada stoves, Woodford stoves, Hamlet stoves or Saltfire stoves. You’ll understand the difference. If a 904 316 chimney liner is being fitted then a register plate is not required. A plate is still required (to prevent heat being wasted by travelling up into the chimney and also to prevent "old soot smells" into the room as a chimney warms from the heat of the liner) but this plate is called a closure plate which we will come to shortly. It is rare nowadays that chimney liners are not fitted (although stove flue pipes might be connected directly to pot lined chimneys) and register plates are rarely fitted nowadays. When the plate is inserted, it will hold itself up BUT, use a could masonry nails into mortar joints on both sides to make certain. No need to drive the nails all the way in, in fact just pinning is OK, cause they are easy to remove if needed.

Vitreous pipe to chimney liner: off the TOP of your stove

I wanted to know if there was a more permanent alternative? Maybe a register plate type fitting with a vent for ventilation? I've tried searching on-line and putting the job on mybuilder.com and ratedpeople.com but have had no response... not really sure where else to go. If your adaptor/vitreous combination is slid up the chimney out the way the rest of the job is easy. If cowl already fitted and you cannot get to chimney pot jump to next section.

NatWest, Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) and Ulster Bank, which are all part of the NatWest Group, will now shut at least 172 of their bank branches in 2023 and 2024.This article continues as if the closure plate is being fitted last of the three boards but bear this in mind when thinking about your install. meant that almost all inserts with 6" flue collars had to be lined if installed in an exposed chimney. using the existing fireplace flue Without an air source (open flue plate) condensation can't happen in a chimney because there is not a source for water vapor if it is sealed at top and bottom. Condensation just doesn't happen - condensation is carried by circulating air. So I ask you my fellow wood stove users what do you think? As I'm not happy about this solution and I've already found fibers on top of the stove from the Inswool so I know its got to be in the air. Before we go any further let’s first make sure we understand the difference between a closure plate and a register plate (both seal off the chimney from the room and are the ceiling above your recess).

Repeat this step along the line representing measurement #2 (fireplace rear, in the example, 16” from front of sheet metal and then 14” and 15” on each side.)

Fitting a register plate or closure plate

inch Deluxe Terra-Cotta Top Plates, 7.5 inch Deluxe Terra-Cotta Top Plates, 7.5 inch Deluxe Terra-Cotta (1) I would recommend that you first have the flue swept, then a capping cowl is fitted to the terminal/pot, which would allow the flue to breathe but prevent water ingress and birds from entering the flue. So I cant say I'm too happy with his solution. Problem is he tells me "Thats how everyone does it""Its the industry standard". The Roxul caused a smell as it first heated up, but this seems to be a one time occurrence. I’m pleased with the results of just the insulation, which slow down the heat loss. I’m thinking the metal plate will “air seal” the opening.
