I’m privileged to work on this film with James,” said Chris. “He’s an inspiration to many across the globe thanks to his Facebook Live shows. Just three songs have debuted at Number 1 this year (Zayn Malik’s Pillowtalk, Major Lazer, Justin Bieber and MØ’s Cold Water and Little Mix’s Shout Out To My Ex), while all other chart-toppers this year so far have taken an average of over five weeks to reach the summit from the point of entering the Top 100. I went along to take a closer look, and Chris informed me how it all started: "I first met Shinny after agreeing to direct the video to accompany his Christmas Number One single as a share of the proceeds would be going to Macmillan, which I thought was a great idea" he explained "We got on well and became friends after that, so when he was developing the idea for a film about addiction I was one of the first people he called. I thought it was a great idea and so we started developing the idea into a script. The purpose of us now shooting a teaser is to use it to help sell the concept to other interested parties." SHINNy's honesty resonated with his audience and The SHINNy SHOW began to provide a much valued service. Viewers started to relate and interact with the host to share their own experiences as heinadvertently started to take on the role of Recovery Influencer. Since then we’ve grown into the team we are today, I’m so proud of the guys who have helped make the RECOVERy Channel what it is.

Through these channels, he’s breaking the stigma associated with recovery and making #RECOVERyTHENEWCOOL. The Making of an Addict will show Shinny at his most vulnerable as he shares deeply personal aspects of his life. The film will hone in on the realities of addiction to recreate moments of desperation and paranoia. Fans of Manchester band Inspiral Carpets have launched a campaign to get the band to the top this Christmas in honour of the band’s late drummer Craig Gill, who died on November 22 at the age of 44. The group enjoyed success in the '90s with hits such including Draggin My Down and This Is How It Feels, but it's their 1994 song Saturn 5 that's the focus of the #XmasNo1 Facebook campaign, which has been set up by Gill’s childhood friend, Rob McCoy.Surprised by the popularity of the group (over 110,000 members), he labelled the broadcasts the SHINNySHOwLIVe. The channel offered a unique insight into a growing operation and had a decent sideline in random acts of silliness. You can catch all Shinny’s highs and lows – if you haven’t already – on his popular Facebook platform, Shinny Show Live. With over 100,000 members in the group alone, people tune in to his online videos to keep updated with this Salford lad who says it as it is.

Since then, THe SHINNy SHOw LIVe has grown into The RECOVERy Channel, with hosts including fitness and mental health advocates, such as Manuel Benages, founder of mental health charity Get Fit 4 Mental Wellness and inspirational speaker.

His first feature film, Best Laid Plans, starred Maxine Peake and Stephen Graham. His latest film, Strangeways Here We Come, starred Michelle Keegan in her first film role as well as Bafta winners Lauren Socha and Chanel Cresswell. Shinny is very open about his own experiences with substance abuse. He even uses his popular online SHINNy Show Live to have an honest and open dialogue on matters including drink, drugs, anxiety and depression. SHINNy represented Leeds Rhinos and his hometown club Salford Reds. After a career in rugby, he became a professional boxer. In his final bout, SHINNy boxed at the MEN Arena on the undercard of the legendary Joe Calzaghe vs. Jeff Lacy bout. I’ve got a four-year plan,” he said. “This keeps me on the right path and I’m only getting better and better in training. James Davenport had his life ruled by addiction for 35 years, ranging from food to drugs to sex. The problems started when the former boxer was just a child and spiralled as he grew older.

Shooting has started in Salford on a teaser for The Making Of An Addict, a biopic about former professional boxer, rugby league player, musician, and social media star James ‘Shinny’ Davenport. Through the SHINNy SHOw LIVe, SHINNy and The Recovery Channel team reach more than five million people a month as they discuss mental health issues and talk openly about their daily battles with both addiction and mental health. Feeling suicidal, or bereaved by suicide is a very difficult place to be. It can be very emotional, distressing and traumatic. We want to support you if you are bereaved by suicide or concerned that someone you know may be thinking of suicide. We want to help you find what support is available in the boroughs of Greater Manchester and provide national resources that are available to help. Two ghosts of John Lewis' Christmas TV advert past have reached the summit on the Official Chart; can it go all the way this year and claims the Official Christmas Number 1? The act behind this year's song - a cover of Randy Crawford's One Day I'll Fly Away - is South London trio Vaults, but the real star of the trailer itself is Buster the Boxer. Aww.Salford Star Live Editor, Ian Leslie, applauds SHINNy's 'heart-on-the-sleeve openness when discussing his demons', as he acclaims the 'actor, mentor, musician andformer sportsman' a worthy winner of this Star Award. Davenport’s final wake-up call came when he feared he would never see eight-year-old Donovan or two-year-old Gracie Lee again. By the time he was in secondary school he was sniffing aerosols, smoking weed and doing harder drugs. He also started struggling with bulimia, a battle he would endure for 20 years.
