The process of thoracoplasty does not end, but happens all the time. The average rate of formation and accumulation of peat is different and depends on the prevailing source of plant groups, geographical and climatic zonality, the hydrologic and other conditions, and varies from 0.2-0.4 mm (the swamp forest) to 1 mm (coniferous-broadleaved subzone) per year.
