the dolls aren't very well engineered, being simultaniously over and under engineered which is a strange feat but they have bright colours and fun fashionable outfit pieces that feel very modern. it's also nice they do come with a second outfit because they are a strange size and can't easily share clothing with other brands. They can fit Barbie skirts but not tops for example, having big wide hips and a teensy tiny upper body with a short torso. Poppy makes a minor appearance sitting in between Bella and Sunny in the audience watching the show. Pom-Pom Girl: The Cheer line has everyone as this. It’s for a plot point, the Cheer project happens the episode “Bring On Rainbow Cheer”. I have no idea what the hip cups do as they seem to do nothing and just add extra complexity to the doll's construction.Country Mouse: Ruby, though she doesn't have a strong country accent. Delilah as well, who is from the Blue Ridge.
On February 24th 2021, Netflix announced that the first season would arrive on Netflix on March 29th. Poppy appears with her friends again, this time being seen working with her friends for the scavenger hunt as Violet hosts. Suspiciously Similar Substitute: Amaya, Skyler, and Violet look strikingly similar to Rainbow Dream, Blue Skye, and Amethyst Rae from the previous Rainbow Surprise line, with some key differences. Once again Poppy makes a very minor appearance, where she only appears within the group of her friends who spend the episode trying to get Amaya and River dating. She appears with Daria in Harley's workshop, where they all learn that Natasha hasn't even written her full song yet. They then all work together as a group, with her and Daria handling the sound.Law of Chromatic Superiority: Of all the runway group members, Ruby takes on the role as The Leader in most moments due to her being the red ranger. Poppy makes her next major appearance where she is shown to be super excited for Rainbow High to get its first snow of the season. She is so excited that she stays at Rainbow High during her break just to see it, with her never seeing snow in real life before. After helping her friends decorate the inside of Rainbow High, she goes out with Sunny, Skyler, and Violet to do some ice skating. She is however shown to be not very skilled at doing it, needing lots of help. After her friends want to go inside, Poppy refuses and stays on the ice alone, only to find herself stranded on a drifted piece of ice and ending the episode on a dramatic cliffhanger. I appreciate that we've got an orange doll and a yellow doll, two colours seldom seen in "girl" toys. Jerk with a Heart of Gold: The As are the domineering clique of upperclassmen at Rainbow High, but they're still kind to the freshmen. Ambiguously Brown: Although some of the characters’ ethnicities can be inferred from their names and bios, many of them are ambiguous. Most have technicolor hair and unusually-colored eyes that don’t correspond to any real-life race whatsoever.
