Hurt people hurt people more skillfully”. Yes, this might be true sometimes. But You have a choice for goodness’ sake. Pain is always there for most of us. You don’t have to inject it onto others so you feel better. Okay, what can I say about this book? Well, for starters, it's 4 stars but not a good 4 stars. I liked it because it appalled me. I just really enjoy reading about psychotic and disgusting people. It intrigues me and being inside his head and taking a look around was just something else. Thing is I didn't enjoy this but I didn't hate it either. There was something morbidly fascinating about this story, something in the way this person thinks, acts and talks. Plus I actually quite liked the writing. Any misfortune to ever happen to him is instantly blamed on his vengeful exes. He flatters himself with delusional scenarios that everyone is out to get him. I wanted to know the reason behind anyone being that way. I wanted to know why people would set out to hurt other people, why people would hurt the people they love. The author wrote this book as a form of self therapy (which he mentions plenty of times in the book) and also the book was supposed to be how you explained it.

Then he meets Aisling. A young beauty from Dublin, with innocent eyes and an intelligent mind. He fell in love. Real hard. Obsessively hard. Mentally, not physically, I never hit a girl in my life. Well, once. But that was a mistake. I'll tell you about it later. The thing is, I got off on it. I really enjoyed it. Romance has killed more people than Cancer. Ok…maybe not killed but dulled more lives. Removed more hope, sold more medication, caused more tears” Like a Shakespearean play, the Oxygen Thief's eventual downfall is foreshadowed by a beautiful woman he meets in AA: "She's evil," said the blonde. She herself had apparently witnessed the awful effect this girl could have on guys. She looked at me for far too long. Like I wasn't taking her seriously enough. I wasn't." pg 50 ebookThe very fact that they were naturally caring and loving would be the milestone that weighed them down. The formula is perfect. The nurse becomes willing to sacrifice herself in the patient. But the patient isn’t suffering from an external illness, he’s suffering from self-inflicted wounds. The nurse wants to prevent him from this pain. The patient wants her to feel the pain, too.” I don't like to take risks. I'll offer you the possibility that I'm wrong only if I'm fairly sure I'm right.” if you're more special to him than others, then he will probably manipulate you so he stays around in your life. Not romantically, but always on your mind. Of course, he is an alcoholic. And of course, he blames that for everything as well. I think that's his second biggest addiction after hurting women.

Now, aside the fact that the book was narrated by an insensitive, inconsiderate bitter misogynist, I vehemently disliked it for its style; the writing was terrible, inconsistent and repetitive. Oh wait he already was but he actually liked it. Yes, the man started off his days by getting drunk, then calling random men homophobic slurs that start with the letter F. The goal was to cause a rise out of men and be beat up. Thankfully, or should I say, unfortunately, he almost died once while playing that game, so he moved on to the next. We were just these innocent girls in the night trying to make something beautiful. We nearly died. We very nearly did, didn't we? This, it seems to me, is the most devastating weapon of all in a woman’s arsenal. If you can encourage the man to be himself, to give you his character, his ways, then you know how to navigate him, and therefore, he will never be able to hide from you” Say Holden Caulfield was an alcoholic advertising executive and Lolita was a photographer's assistant and somehow they met in Bright Lights Big City. He's blinded by love; she by ambition. Purporting to be an autobiography, this book is honest, hilarious and heartrending, but above all a very real account of what we do to each other and what we allow to have done to us. --

I gazed at her lovingly, but respectfully, the way I had done so many times and meant it. I even meant it then but only because I wanted it to be convincing. It's mostly the knowledge that I've met at least a dozen of men like that in my short lifetime. I could never understand why they do what they do. Here’s the thing: I don’t normally review or rate the books I dislike. I don’t like bashing them. Especially if the author is still alive. This one, however, is an exception. You may wonder why and I’d tell you because this book pissed me off. Like. Really. Pissed me off. Sometimes the relationship between two generations is very complicated. “My Father Is a Simple Man” by Luis Omar Salinas and “A secret Lost in the Water” by Roch Carrier explore these universal themes, the greatness of love together with the unavoidability of conflicts between two generations through the depiction of the speakers’ personal experience with their fathers.

All the pretense and rules dissolved away. There was just the two of us and the pain. All those intimate moments, every little sigh, those gentle touches, the lovemaking, the confidences, the orgasms, the attempted orgasms-all mere fuel. The deeper in they were, the more beautiful they looked when the moment came. Sir, I literally could give less of a shit about pervy Brother Neddy or your daddy issues. So please take your shitty excuses and shove them down someone else's throats. My question is.....how in the seven hells did I actually read this as a 12 year old?? I don't think I even understood half the things this man was talking about and the other half.....well....it was filled with this: Hurt people hurt people.Say there was a novel in which Holden Caulfield was an alcoholic and Lolita was a photographer’s assistant and, somehow, they met in Bright Lights, Big City . I never looked like a drunk, I just was one, and anyway in those days advertising was a far more boozy affair than it is today. Because I was freelance, I could be my own man, so to speak, and I would keep myself busy by ensuring I had dates lined up. None of the girls were supposed to know this. The idea was to have an impressive queue so that when one girl neared maturity-usually after about three or four dates with some phone calls in between-another would be introduced. Then as one went onto the scrap heap, a new one would take her place. Nothing unusual about my method, everyone did it. But I enjoyed it so much. Not the sex or even the conquest, but the causing of pain. Find out his hobbies before dumping him. He may be useful as a friend. Get good at chess; there is nothing more humiliating for a man than to be beaten intellectually by a beautiful woman. You'll be able to cause him physical pain. If he doesn't let you know how he's feeling, call him late. Wake him up. It's hard for him to hide his feelings when he's in love with you and you're speaking softly to him in bed, even if it is only on the phone.” Italie, Hillel (23 May 2016).
