About this deal

There are just so many details I loved, from Theophilus’s love of the rain to the cat interrupting an almost kiss to Henry’s care and concern about power dynamics and consent in all areas of his life. This is closed door, which feels true to the characters, but there are also erotic drawings and dreams. This is a lush, deeply realized world with chemistry and feelings galore. The ending made me smile so big. Just a perfect epilogue in every way. It’s been exciting to read this series as it released, and Heart of Stone caps off the series perfectly; but it’s also been really hard to wait for the next book after finishing the prior one. If you haven’t started this series yet, now’s the perfect time – collect all six, clear your calendar for a few days, and settle in to binge read the epic adventure story of the hunky Rembrandt Stone. I can’t think of a better winter plan. Characters: Henry is a 505 year old gay white vampire and publisher with ADHD. He has a cat named Astaroth. Theophilus is a 26 year old autistic gay white Greek British personal secretary. This is set in 1764 Birmingham, England.

Readers are encouraged to start with the first book, Cast the First Stone, as each book builds on the previous book. James L. Rubart is 28 years old, but lives trapped inside an older man’s body. He’s the best-selling, Christy Hall of Fame author of ten novels and loves to send readers on mind-bending journeys they’ll remember months after they finish one of his stories. He’s dad to the two most outstanding sons on the planet and lives with his amazing wife on a small lake in eastern Washington. More at http://jameslrubart.com/ The characters are extremely flat and have no growth whatsoever throughout the entire novel, the fact that Henry is a vampire was of no importance since it did not impact the story at all except to eventually turn his parter (whereas one could potentially draw parallels between monstrosity and homosexuality, which would’ve been so much more interesting). The neurodivergency also was of little importance: if, in the case of Essex, it was more pronounced at the beginning and fades towards the end, in the case of Coffey it was barely noticeable (and no struggle at all with living with undiagnosed adhd for five hundred years??? ). This book. I don't often use the word "weep," but this book made me weep. It's intense and it's fulfilling and it totally got me. Over the course of this book there grows in the heart of the vampire Henry Coffee an enduring affection for the way his new secretary deftly sidesteps any questions he does not wish to answer (which is, to be sure, most of them). And in me, too, as I devoured Heart of Stone over the course of just a few days, there grew real affection for the way this story deftly avoids it's own plot.If I'm being honest, the faith aspect here was a little deus ex machina. While there have been small threads woven throughout, the culmination seemed forced. And I'm not sure that all the content that was included in the earlier novels was worth wading through to make it to this point. The language is luxuriously chosen -- I found myself looking words up, and that's not common for me. I adore the fact that the vampires play long-outmoded musical instruments, having hung onto their theorbos and dulcians. There's also extensive and loving description of artistic pigments (Theophilus, the secretary, is an artist). Zacharek, Stephanie (August 11, 2023). "Netflix's Heart of Stone Is a Mission: Impossible Wannabe That Mostly Misses". Time. Archived from the original on August 14, 2023 . Retrieved August 14, 2023. The writing was indeed beautiful and while it probably wasn't particularly true to a 18th century writing style, it was just elaborate enough to set the tone but without being distractingly obnoxious about it. Everything I believed was nothing but a lie.The strangling grip of chaos squeezes until I can’t breathe.I don’t know who I am anymore.

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just, and will forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” Living one day at a time. Taking the world as it is, not as I would have it. Trusting that He will make all things right…if I surrender… It sounds like a time traveler’s prayer, doesn’t it?” Heart of Stone' is a slowly unfolding period romance between a vampire and his inimitably devoted clerk: lushly depicted in flowing, lovingly appended prose, we follow the slow understanding these two men grasp of one another, and the cross of their two worlds into each other's. But I will tell you that there were tears and anguish… and there was joy! My heart broke, my heart smiled… there were bittersweet moments and there was closure! And that IS all I’m going to say!! 😊😍

I don't know what it is, but I have learned that I can live with the past mistakes much easier than without the blessings of today.” You guys, do NOT miss this story... this series!
