About this deal

So after giving her antibiotics to stop her milk production on our vet’s advice, my family made the decision to spay her. Your vet will give your Labradoodle a thorough check on admission to see if there are signs of a season and I can assure you that they will only go ahead with the operation if they are confident that it is the right thing to do and safe to do so. This is such a useful defence tool to protect our beloved pets against those that are not in control of their own dogs! She will be constantly monitored and the tube removed from her windpipe when she reaches the right level of wakefulness. If any abnormalities are found, these will be discussed with the owner before deciding whether the operation goes ahead or not.

They would get thrown a frozen bit of whale meat or seal and then be expected to live outside in minus-----? How long will she be between seasons and how much time do we have to be sure we are safe to have the operation. Spayed bitches can actually be more prone to some types of cancer’– this is also debatable, is there a veterinary study to back up this statement? I've never had any interest shown in her, though I keep her away from other dogs, but passed an even entire male on the way back to the car one day. Charlie had been neutered for some time, and although he did respond to her, it was manageable with a good "LEAVE" growled at him by me.We have a small dog and a big bull mastiff they fell out over food the small dog had three layers of stitches inside his neck and seven stitches on the outside. When would you expect them to come into season, I’d rather get them spayed before that because three girls will be quite a lot of work. I've already read of a dog dying this year after being left in a hot car and that was with the owner apparently visiting them regularly and leaving a window open and water for the dog. The most important things would be to check the appearance of the wound, to prevent the bitch from licking it (with a plastic bucket-collar if necessary) and to limit her exercise by keeping her on the lead.

We’d advise having a good chat to your own vet with your questions and concerns and make a decision from there. The spay should not be more difficult because of her breed, but weight does play a part when any surgery is performed. Knowing the step by step of what is actually going to happen instead of it just being this daunting major surgery my mind couldn’t get around is helpful. I have a huge dilemma, months ago I booked a holiday to Wales (for last week of April 2011) thinking my Rosie would love the walks, and now, her season has started. It's actually on the can its meant to be used once so you could spray a little and then have 3/4 full but it wont work any more.I’m sure that your vet will give your bitch a full examination in mid-January, to make sure that the timing is right.

Behaviour we agree might not change with spaying, however the general article dealt with the surgical side, not the behavioural.and be prepared to control his reactions if you feel even remotely that is something he may act aggressively against. The main advantages of spaying are preventing pregnancy, preventing infection of the uterus ( pyometra), preventing ovarian or uterine cancer and reducing the likelihood of mammary (breast) cancer, all of which can be life-threatening. Hi Jade, Please take her back to your vets urgently so they can check her, she may need pain relief and/ or fluids and antibiotics in the vein for a bit longer. Poppy is fully recovered now I did walk her after 6 days before her stitches came out at 10 days she was fine. As a dogs sense of smell is thousands of times better then ours and males can smell and detect bitches in season over considerable distances wouldnt hold out that much hope that they work.

I don’t want to be known as the owner from hell however, I would never forgive myself or the vet should anything happen during or after the operation. In particular, your vet will want to check your bitch is in good general health, is the correct weight and is not having a season, a false pregnancy or an actual pregnancy.

My bitch has gone into heat and the husky won't leave her alone, just until we can get him booked in to get his nuts removed! I have to large intact dogs who are often set upon by the neutered males (a common occurrence people are unaware of…. roll: Charlie is not the sort of dog to take something like that without challenging it, so after advice from here I began dousing him with bitch spray before each walk (he was NOT impressed). Can’t quite get the bit about not going up stairs and being kept on a lead and I’m told its for 10-14 days.
