Description

As much as Christmas at Little Beach Street Bakery can be read as a stand alone, I do think it might be preferable to start with the first book in the trilogy. Polly's relationship has failed, her business has failed, she is homeless, bankrupt and living on the couch of her all too perfect best frien Even though running the bakery is hard work and doesn’t give much of an income, Polly is determined to make the next Christmas their best yet. But what was previously a weekend diversion suddenly becomes far more important as she pours her emotions into kneading and pounding the dough, and each loaf becomes better and better.

And the people and atmosphere of the small seaside village setting (which the author reveals IN THIS INTERVIEW was inspired by the real-life St Michael's Mount in Cornwell). I enjoyed the humor and romance Jenny Colgan brings out in the novel, and I also appreciated the varying voices of her characters as they struggled with some rather complicated moral and just plain emotional issues.

Door de fijne, vlotte, beeldende schrijfstijl van Jenny Colgan word je het verhaal ingetrokken, bevind je je op het getijdeneiland en kon ik niet meer stoppen met lezen. They initially explore the manner in which Polly finds new meaning in her life and learns to adapt to the opportunities she discovers in Polbearne. It can be read as a stand alone with no confusion but it's such a good series that I think you need to read them all! While there, she is surprised to find that her life can still thrive even in the midst of heartbreak and perceived failure. Polly’s ever-constant baking was also given much detail and constantly left you craving delicious breads.

The books tell the heartwarming story of a woman who moves to a new town to get away from her troubles. Dit is een fijn verhaal over liefde, vriendschap, familie, moeilijke keuzes, twijfels over de toekomst, hard werken en je hart volgen. It even throws off the light-heartedness for a while to give the reader some bona fide peril on the high seas and a little tragedy for good measure. Polly Waterford lived with her partner, Chris, and for the last few years, barely had her head above water. On the surface, Colgan’s latest appears to be a cute book about baking, but there is much more depth and emotion here than initially meets the eye. Het is winter, alle toeristen zijn weer naar huis en Polly werkt nog altijd hard in haar kleine bakkerij op Mount Polbearne.
