Description

Voltage - The mains voltage in Italy is 230 V which is compatible with all UK appliances (UK voltage is currently specified as 230 V +10% / - 6%). You will need to consider what to pack, to ensure you can use your personal electrical appliances safely whilst abroad. Plug type C is the plug which has two round pins, plug type F is the plug which has two round pins with two earth clips on the side and plug type L is the plug type which has three round pins. If the frequency is different, the normal operation of an electrical appliance may also be affected. If this is not the case it should be used alongside a voltage transformer or converter to allow the appliance to work safely and properly.

Alternatively if we do not support your specific plug / socket types yet you can close this and view the site with default settings. You can determine whether you’ll need to use a converter or transformer, by looking at the appliance rating plate.

We recommend you check your appliances before embarking on your journey, to understand the requirements in Italy. If you want to be sure though a better option may be to invest in a worldwide adaptor that is a single unit capable of connecting to multiple socket types. Special considerations - "Common sockets have 8-shaped holes to accept both 16A and 10A version of the L plug, but in hotels 10A sockets are still common. If the appliance is a single voltage rated appliance, it will need to operate at the same voltage as the supply voltage of the country i.

You can plug your devices to the electric network grid in Italy without requiring a voltage adapter. This adapter allows you to use plugs type: A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J, K, L, M, N into outlets type: L. As voltage can differ from country to country, you may need to use a voltage converter or transformer whilst in Italy. This normally includes the use of a travel adaptor , which is a device that simply allows you to plug any UK electrical appliance into a foreign electrical socket. These types of travel adaptors should only be used with double insulated equipment, which will be clearly marked with the symbol shown below. When you travel as much as we do you come to realise that some countries just don't know how to stick to the rules!
