Description

All the products in our line-up are seed mixes, made up of different grass varieties that each have their pros and cons. The best grass seed products are a mix of varieties, balanced to meet certain needs and thrive in particular conditions.

Football pitch vs posh lawn: If your lawn needs to withstand endless close encounters with kids, pets and BBQ guests, then go for a predominantly ryegrass mix. We are known for our quality, and don’t contaminate any of our seed with chemicals, and products designed to aid growth. Has not germinated, I over seeded the lawn following the correct procedure keeping soil moist, and sowed when it when the temp was warm, I took a small number of seed and put in into my tortoise table under the sunlamp (the dandelion seeds have grown really well) to see if it would germinate but nothing after 10 days so not very happy as I thought I was purchasing a premium product. These mixtures are all ryegrass-free, and are predominantly made up of fescue and bentgrass species tailored for the perfect finish. Landscape Seed Our landscape grass seed range contains some of our most popular mixtures used in the industry. If it’s warm and damp, germination tends to be faster, cold and dry, and germination can take much longer.

Its main downside is that it needs warm soil to germinate, so it won’t grow if sown in cooler months. We supply stadiums to training grounds, village greens to school playing fields and golf courses to cricket pitches on a regular basis. You could also grow a small area somewhere else in your garden so that you have a ready supply of matching turf for any repair work that may be required.

Long-term user reviews are ecstatic, reporting that the grass grows back well after snowy winters and summer heatwaves. Within 4 weeks if seeding I had a luscious thick green lawn that looks like it’s been there for years. We feel with the right mixture, you can actually get better results with our carefully chosen blends than any “one size fits all” seed. You won’t need to do much ground preparation: just sprinkle it on your lawn’s patches and cover with netting (it’s very tasty, according to our local feathered friends).Or try sowing with clover, which will blend in the bare patches and survive drought much better than grass. Following this, sow the other half across the first sowing from the front to the back of the section. It’s rather high-maintenance, so it’s usually mixed with fescue to make the lawn harder-wearing and weed-resistant. As a general rule, hardwearing mixtures usually contain ryegrass and red fescue, two species that establish quite quickly – they can germinate in as little as 3-4 days, but 7-10 days is more average. We also offer a Spring Lawn Revive Kit, containing everything you need to get your lawn back in shape.

First, here’s how to choose the right seeds for your garden, or football pitch, or croquet lawn, or for re-grassing those muddy patches you’ve been meaning to sort out for years. Could be to so with weather or my individual lawn but initially I thought none of the seeds germinated as four weeks after sowing I still had a muddy lawn. Fescue is also hardy and versatile but a little finer than ryegrass, so it’s softer beneath your feet and creates a thicker look.Germinal is so confident about the world-beating hue of its So Green grass, which uses specially-cultivated Abernile ryegrass, that it planted the stuff on the side of a house for its product photo (above). The seeds are fairly quick to germinate, especially if you plant them in spring or autumn, with users reporting a “lush green lawn” eight weeks after planting. Five weeks on now and the grass is really starting to come through, even if it’s slow growing, with well over half of the seeds germinating.
